Jon Peterson, M.D.
Dr. Jon Peterson received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University, and his medical degree from the University of Southern California.
He did his internship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California, and completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Denver General Hospital in Denver Colorado.
He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and in Urgent Care medicine and was an oral examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine for almost 10 years.
Dr. Peterson has taught Emergency Medicine at Barnes Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis, and at the Medical College of Virginia.
He is an active member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association and has a strong interest in foreign missions.
He and his wife Megan live in Martinsville. They have 5 children and 10 grandchildren.
Armando Guerrero, PA
Armando Guerrero travels to work at Dr. Jon’s Urgent Care from Damascus, Virginia.
Prior to becoming a Physician Assistant, he earned his certification as a Medical Assistant. As a student, he interned at Loma Linda University Medical Center, a large urban teaching hospital in Southern California. This turned into his first medical job and he worked for the Department of Orthopaedics for over 10 years. After an apprenticeship, he became a Certified Orthopaedic Technician, served as an instructor on the teaching staff, and ran the Clubfoot Casting Clinic.
Armando has always had a desire to work with underserved populations and he was drawn to West Virginia because of their “Rural Health Practitioner Program” which focuses on those communities in true need for medical help. He received his Physician Assistant certification from the University of Charleston in West Virginia in 2014. He gained more experience by working at Mountains Community Hospital in their Rural Health Clinic, before moving to Damascus, Virginia to work in Emergency Medicine at several locations.
Lauren Young, FNP
Lauren Young MSN-FNP was born and raised in the Martinsville and Henry County area. She received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Patrick Henry Community College.
After practicing as an RN at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County for 15 years, she returned to school to receive her MSN and FNP from Old Dominion University.
After graduation she worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Carilion of Martinsville for 13 years before joining the team at Dr. Jon’s Urgent Care Center.
Lauren lives in Bassett with her husband, Ricky. They have two children. She enjoys hiking and kayaking. She is a member of Fort Trial Baptist Church.
Kristi Jones, MSN, APRN, ANP-C
Kristi Jones, ANP-C, FNP-C was born in, and currently lives in Danville, VA. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University in 1995. She then returned home and earned her RN diploma from DRMC – School of Nursing. She practiced as an RN at DRMC, Moses Cone, and Centra Health, and then returned to school to receive her Master of Science in Nursing degree and Adult Nurse Practitioner certification from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
After graduating, she worked in Primary Care and Urgent Care for 12 years before joining Dr. Jon’s Urgent Care Center. She received her Family Nurse Practitioner certification at Shenandoah University in 2021.
Kristi lives with her husband, Michael and their 3 dogs. They enjoy traveling and watching sports.
Carrie Kaltwang, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CFRN, NRP
Carrie Kaltwang, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CFRN, NRP is a Martinsville, Virginia native with a strong background in emergency and acute care medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Lynchburg in 2013, completed her paramedic training at Central Virginia Community College in 2016, and received her Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in 2023.
Carrie brings over a decade of experience as a registered nurse, with a diverse background in adult and pediatric emergency care, adult ICU, and flight medicine. She has worked with respected healthcare systems including Centra Health, SOVAH Martinsville, and Atrium Health. Before joining Dr. Jon’s Urgent Care, she worked as a nurse practitioner in pediatric primary care.
Her clinical interests include pediatrics, rural medicine, and acute care, where she is passionate about providing accessible, high-quality care to her community.
Outside of work, Carrie enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She loves baking sourdough, sewing, reading, and working out.”
Ashley Williams, FNP-C
Ashley is a devoted Christian and mother who is passionate about sharing faith principles that offer encouragement, purpose, and supportive insights to others.
Professionally, Ashley is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner graduating with a Masters Degree from Walden University in 2019, who specializes in Primary Care of all ages. Ashley also has many years of hospital experience bringing that knowledge and background with her into the Primary Care and Urgent Care setting.
